Survival kit questions, answered
Shelf life, delivery, what we leave out and why, and how the Rotation keeps a kit ready.
The kits
What is a luxury survival kit?
A complete set of what a household needs to get through an emergency at home or on the move: water, food, cooking, heat, light, power, communications, medical, hygiene and tools. Ours are chosen for quality, packed beautifully and kept up to date.
Why the name T‑MINUS?
T-minus is how mission control counts down to launch: T-minus ten, nine, eight. Zero is the moment everything changes. For a household, zero is the hour the power, the network or the water stops, whether the cause is a cyber-attack, a storm or a fault. The time before it is the only time you get to prepare. Each kit is named for how long it keeps you going after zero: T+3 is three days, T+365 is a year.
What emergencies are the kits designed for?
Long power cuts, water supply failures, storms and floods, cyber-attacks on infrastructure, pandemics and having to leave home quickly. They are practical kits for disruption, not a promise about any particular catastrophe.
How long do the kits last?
Meals and emergency rations carry up to five years of shelf life, long-life food stores up to 25 years and sealed water five years. Batteries and power stations should be charged every three months. Each kit comes with a dated inventory, and the Rotation replaces items before they expire.
Do you include medicines?
No. Medicines need a pharmacist's advice, depend on the person and expire quickly. The field manual lists what to add from your own cabinet, and prescription medicines should be discussed with your GP.
Do you include knives, fuel and gas?
Multi-tools, knives and the hatchet are delivered only to an adult who shows ID. Gas cartridges travel by courier under dangerous-goods rules. We never supply petrol, and LPG for installed kits is provided and stored by a local dealer.
Delivery and returns
How quickly can I have a kit?
T+3 and T+7 are dispatched within 10 working days. T+30 is delivered by our team within three weeks. T+90 and T+365 are installed after a survey.
Can I return a kit?
Yes, unused kits can be returned within 14 days of delivery. Monogrammed or engraved items, opened food and opened hygiene products can't be returned unless faulty. Full details are on the delivery and returns page.
Can I send one as a gift?
Yes. We deliver to the recipient with a handwritten card and no prices inside, and can time delivery for a birthday or Christmas.
Do you deliver outside the UK?
Not yet. We are planning Europe, the Gulf and the US East Coast. Bespoke clients with homes abroad can ask us.
Membership
What is the Rotation?
Our membership that keeps a kit ready: we hold a dated inventory, refresh the Larder, service batteries and replace anything before it expires. From £295 a year.
Is this scaremongering?
No. In October 2026 the Government launched Be Ready, asking every household to manage for three days on its own, and only 13% of UK adults say their household is largely or fully prepared. Its cyber agency says AI is making attacks more frequent. We make preparing easier, better made and kept up to date.
Why prepare now rather than later?
Because the time to buy a radio is before everyone else wants one. During the 2025 Iberian blackout, portable radios and batteries quickly sold out in small shops. In Britain, the old copper phone network switches off in January 2027, and digital landlines need power at home to work. We assemble every kit by hand and cap how many we take on each month.
